Víctor Manuel Rivas Santos was born in Menen (Belgium), although he rapidly moved (was moved) to Granada (Spain). He finished his studies on Computer Sciences in 1994, and obtained its PhD, also in Computer Sciences, in 2003, both of them from the University of Granada. He is currently professor in the University of Jaén, where works since 1996 at the Department of Computer Sciences

His research is centered in the Soft Computing area, especially neural networks as well as genetic and co-evolutionary algorithms applied to time-series prediction.
